[The bounty hunter gives Theo a wry look.] “Wouldn’t hurt to try it if you ask me. Beyond the chance of making some caps, it’s a fun way to try to read people and use your wits - Make them look like idiots when you call their bluff and wind up with the better hand. But if it’s a matter of principle then that’s fairly respectable, it’s damn near absent on the Strip it seems.”[Sergio scratches his beard a bit, suddenly remembering his own manners.] I’m sorry for my lack of manners sir, haven’t even introduced myself yet - Name’s Sergio.
[Theo seems pleased about being called respectable, and being addressed as sir makes him stand a little taller, folding his hands behind his back.]
“Mr. North.” [He turns his head a little, looking up at Sergio from the corner of his eyes.] “So, Mr. Sergio, you’re a gambler then? Ever considered getting a real job?”
[Sergio chuckles a bit.] No sir, you’ve got it wrong. I enjoy gambling as a means of recreation, someone with my kind of luck couldn’t possibly be a full time gambler without going completely broke.
“‘m a bounty hunter, though I’ve started to consider some mercenary work on the side - things have been pretty so as of late. What about yourself, Mr North?
“It went better than I expected.” Her eyes squinted as if their lids were pushed upwards by a smile. But in reality a small scowl hid behind both her mask and tone. “You don’t sound clingy at all. I’d worry for you if you went away as abruptly as I did. Then again I meant to keep my leave a secret, just didn’t want everyone in the Mojave knowing where I was going so…”A boot tugged against the dry earth and dug it’s front onto the grainy exterior. It seemed like her whole body paused as she analyzed her choice of words. “Sorry, that sounded like I didn’t trust you enough to say I was heading out. I’m pretty sure you’re good at keeping secrets. It’s just-goodbyes are hard and I didn’t wanna deal with that either.”
The man nodded. “There’s nothing to apologize for, I know what it’s like to have something come up that just can’t be ignored - Had I ever been in a position where I’d need to do some traveling, I’d prefer a quiet departure myself.”
“I’m just happy to see you again.” Sergio hoped that what he just said didn’t send the wrong kind of message. He certainly was fond of Billie and was glad to see her again, but it could be easily misinterpreted as smothering.
sergiothecyclops said: I haven’t heard from you in a long time, but it’s good to see you again.
“It’s good to see you too.” Her brow may have furrowed, but her voice stayed soft and honest. “I’m happy to see you still walking around.”
“Oh I’ve been walking from place to place for nearly 20 years, nothing short of leg removal will change that.” He chuckled. “So where have you been?”
His comment pulled a small laugh from her, somewhat muffled by the layer of fabric over her mouth. “Well lets hope your legs stay intact. I headed back East for a while. Had to take care of some business.”
“Oh yeah? I hope that went well.” The girl’s face mask seemed to imply otherwise but Sergio decided against commenting on it, lest it be something Billie wasn’t happy about - Better off that she get a warm welcome back than have him oogle and ask about a potentially sensitive subject.
“Either way, welcome back. Don’t mean to sound clingy or nothing, but I was kind of worried that you wouldn’t come back.”

askrangervasquez asked: Without repercussion: You're like a son to me. But you make a lot of enemies in your business, and I'm terrified that one day I'll wake up and find out that you're gone.
…
That day might be sooner than you think.
pvtlockstock asked: Repercussions: I'd like you as a role model of sorts, you remind me of my grandfather, loved the old west- I'm having lots of difficulty though with deciding what is right or wrong to emulate.
Emulating the old west is fine. But if you think I’m a good role model, you’ve no idea how wrong you are.
eadaointhewanderer asked: I dislike that I am uncertain of how to properly manipulate your reactions.
That’s..one way to keep me from flirting with you.
unicorn-van asked: I think you're the sort of man my father would've rather I'd been. He never did know what was good for him.
Yeah, I’m not exactly the kind of person that kids should really look up to.
rangeralexandria asked: You're kind of not as good of a shot as I'd expected. Hee.
Gee, thanks.
